The best coffee shop I have ever been to is in Cartagena, Colombia called Abaco Libros and Cafe. This coffee shop is part-cafe, part-library.
The photo does not even do it justice. Cartagena is notoriously humid and hot year-round due to its proximity to the equator and Caribbean, so frequent stops at cafes in the city are a must. Whether you get their ice coffee, latte, or frozen coffee drinks, you cannot go wrong.
Grab your drink and find a seat at a table (if you can manage one) and pick one of the thousands of books nestled around you. You can sit in this cafe for hours and never get bored of the people-watching, staring at the lined walls or getting lost in the books.
I found that not only were there a lot of locals that frequented this spot, but it was also filled with tourists and expats alike. The cafe/library really caters to any kind of person with any need, and their English is also superb.
Abaco Libros and Cafe is located directly in the middle of the city of Cartagena within the old city walls…the perfect location for a morning coffee or read, a pick-me-up during the day, or to escape the sweltering heat, or frequent downpours at nighttime in this bustling city.
Abaco Libros and Cafe has books in every language, so do not think it is only for locals! Make no mistake, while the book-lined walls are the main attraction of the cafe, the coffee is one of the best too… I mean it’s Colombia! You can’t go wrong with any of their coffee selections. Abaco Libros and Cafe is a must-hit when visiting Cartagena and was one of my favorite stops on my Cartagena and Colombia trip!
