Learn about this best little coffee shop called Green Shed, Wilderness in South Africa.
Coffee shops are always high on our travel list, my husband and I are both big coffee lovers and to find a cozy coffee shop with good coffee sometimes is a real treat. We’ve been to many coffee countries around the world, exploring and tasting coffees prepared in different ways; Indonesia, Turkey, Guatemala, Colombia, Brazil etc. But still a traditional Italian style espresso is our favourite. On our recent Garden Route trip https://stingynomads.com/garden-route-highlights/ in South Africa we stopped in a small town of Wilderness for lunch and saw a sign pointing to a coffee roastery. We couldn’t miss it! Green Shed is the name of the place. It looks really cool; a small building something between a garage and a shack, with cozy outside terrace, beautiful garden and glamorous interior. My favourite part was an old rusted beetle painted red parked outside the shop with lush green plants sticking through its broken windows. You can sit outside; on a stoop or in the garden or inside, at a big wooden table.
The shops imports coffee from all over the world you can get beans from Indonesia, Ethiopia, Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil etc. For your cup of coffee you can choose beans from any country they will grind them for you and make an exclusive cup of coffee, you can even mix different beans. They have their own blend; it makes very smooth chocolaty coffee. If you buy a bag of local blend coffee and put it in your car every time you get in it smells like if you entering a coffee shop.
Needless to say their coffee is amazing and cappuccino is exactly how I like with nice thick foam. A local South African guy does all the roasting he took over from the shop owner and I must say he does a very good job. All the staff in the coffee shop is very friendly and positive, you start smiling as soon as you come in. Except for great coffee you can get breakfast, savoury pies and desserts here. Their chocolate cheese cake is the best in the world; it makes a perfect combination with a cup of cappuccino. Now every time we drive past Wilderness we stop for coffee at Green Shed.
